Niger State Police Command don take over the place where the mine incident happen wey cause the death of 37 artisanal miners wey dey for Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) custody, and don start full investigation into wetin surround the deaths.

The move follow directive from the Inspector-General of Police (IGP), Olatunji Rilwan Disu, as part of effort to make sure say accountability, transparency and respect for constitutional human rights provisions dey.

For one statement, the command spokesperson, SP Wasiu Abiodun, talk say the Commissioner of Police, Niger State Command, Adamu Abdullahi Elleman, don direct say make dem deploy Operation Flush patrol teams to secure and cordon off the place.

E add say the Deputy Commissioner of Police wey dey in charge of the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID), Minna, don start preliminary forensic investigations to find out wetin surround the incident.

The command assure the families and relatives of the people wey die, and members of the public, say the investigation go dey conducted diligently and professionally, with all effort directed at finding out the facts surrounding the incident.

E appeal for calm, patience and cooperation, dey urge the public to continue to obey the law while the investigation dey go on.
