Nijeriya ta ƙaddaramar da wani nau'i na rigakafin cutar sanƙarau mai suna Men5CV da "zai kawo sauyi sosai", wanda Hukumar Lafiya ta Duniya (WHO) ta ce shi ne na farko a duniya.
Rigakafin zai kare mutane daga "nau'i biyar" na ƙwayar cutar sanƙarau da ake kira meningococcus bacteria , in ji darakta janar na WHO, Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus.
"Sanƙarau tsohuwar cuta ce mai kisa, amma wannan sabon nau'in rigakafin yana da damar kawo sauyi a kan cutar, zai hana ɓarkewar ta a nan gaba sannan ya kare mutane daga mutuwa," a cewar Ghebreyesus, a saƙon da ya wallafa a shafin X ranar Juma'a.
"Wannan shiri da Nijeriya ta ƙaddamar ya ƙara kusantowa da mu don cim ma burinmu na kawar da sanƙarau daga nan zuwa shekarar 2030," in ji shugaban WHO.
Hukumar WHO ta ce Nijeriya, mai mutane fiye da miliyan 220, tana cikin ƙasashe 26 da suka fi fama da ciwon sanƙarau.
Ta ƙara da cewa mutum 153 ne suka mutu sakamakon ɓarkewar cutar a jihohin Adamawa, Bauchi, Gombe, Jigawa, Katsina, Yobe, Zamfara tsakanin 1 ga watan Oktoba zuwa watan 11 Maris ɗin da ya wuce.
Ƙungiyar Gavi da ke fafutukar yi rigakafin cututtuka a duniya ce ta ɗauki nauyin yin rigakafin daga ranar 25 zuwa 28 ga watan Maris da zummar yi wa fiye da mutum miliyan ɗaya ƴan shekara ɗaya zuwa 29 allurar.
"Arewacin Nijeriya, musamman jihohin Jigawa, Bauchi da Yobe sun fi fama da ciwon sanƙarau mai kisa," a cewar Ministan Lafiya na Nijeriya Farfesa Muhammad Ali Pate.
