While dem dey do di event, di Director-General of NCCSALW, wey be retired Deputy Inspector-General of Police Johnson Kokumo, talk say dis exercise na "deliberate, verifiable, and irreversible act of national security."

Im talk say, "We gather here today to witness how we go destroy, by burning and smelting, about 2,819 small arms and light weapons.

"Dis na weapons wey dem get illegally, or wey don old and no dey work again, and now dem don permanently remove dem from circulation for our society."

"Every weapon wey dey enter dis fire today na weapon wey no go ever again dey use to threaten community, disturb market, waylay traveller, or arm criminal or terrorist group," Kokumo add.
