Crystal Palace have named Austrian Oliver Glasner as their new manager to replace Roy Hodgson, the Premier League club said on Monday.
The 49-year-old has signed a deal to become the Eagles' boss until the end of the 2025/2026 season.
Palace appointed the former Wolfsburg and Eintracht Frankfurt manager after Hodgson stepped down with the club 16th in the league standings, five points above the relegation zone, after six wins from 24 games.
Europa League winner
"I'm delighted to welcome Oliver to the club. He has an outstanding record, and we believe he is the right manager to take the club forward at this pivotal stage," chairman Steve Parish said.
Glasner managed Eintracht Frankfurt for two seasons, leading the Bundesliga club to win the Europa League in 2022, and his side reached the German Cup final in 2023.
Palace are at Everton on later on Monday, with Hodgson's assistant coaches Paddy McCarthy and Ray Lewington taking charge. Glasner's first game in charge will be at home to Burnley on Saturday.
Falling ill
Hodgson, the oldest ever manager in the Premier League at age 76, left Crystal Palace on Monday just days after falling ill during a training session.
Palace said Hodgson has left the hospital following the training-ground incident on Friday and was “doing well.”
