NARD bin plan to start indefinite strike on Tuesday, sake of delay for salary, allowances wey never pay, and oda welfare wahala wey affect their members.

But after serious intervention from government, including meetings wey Vice President Kashim Shettima, Coordinating Minister of Health and Social Welfare, Prof Ali Pate, and Minister of Labour and Employment, Dr Muhammad Dingyadi do, NARD on Tuesday morning announce say dem don call off di strike, and dem give Federal Government two weeks ultimatum to solve remaining problems.

For joint statement wey NARD President, Dr Muhammed Suleiman, Secretary-General, Dr Shuaibu Ibrahim, and Publicity Secretary, Dr Abdulmajid Ibrahim sign, di association say di decision follow serious discussion by their National Executive Council.

Di statement talk say dem get “cautious optimism,” noting say government’s effort show say dem ready to address resident doctors’ welfare wahala.

Di statement talk, “The NEC, as dem see di ongoing high-level interventions and to show good heart, hereby call off di total, indefinite, and comprehensive strike wey dem bin declare before.”

But NARD warn say issues wey no resolve yet, including delay for promotion and salary arrears, di 2026 Medical Residency Training Fund wey never pay, backlog of 19 months of unpaid professional allowances, and di stop for implementation of di revised Professional Allowance Table, must be addressed within di two weeks ultimatum.
