AON president, Abdulmunaf Yunusa Sarina, give dis warning for one notice wey dem write for April 14, wey dem send to Clement Isong, wey be executive secretary of Major Energies Marketers Association of Nigeria.
Dem also copy President Bola Tinubu, Vice President Kashim Shettima, Festus Keyamo (minister of aviation and aerospace development), NCAA, and DSS.
Di group talk say di price of Jet A1 don rise from N900 per litre for February 28 to N3,300 per litre — wey be increase of over 300 percent.
AON call di increase “too much and artificial,” and sey e no follow global crude oil price wey only go up by about 30 percent.
Di notice talk: “For di past four weeks, airlines don suffer this wahala and still dey fly becos of love for country. But now, di matter don become too hard and e no fit continue.”
“As e be so, di money airlines dey make no even fit cover fuel cost alone, not to talk of other expenses wey dem dey pay everyday. Di situation dey get worse.”
AON warn sey di way fuel marketers dey do di thing dey “kill” di aviation industry and dey put di country economy, safety, and security for risk, as airlines dey slowly forced to close operation.
Di group add sey dis problem don already make one airline stop work since March 13, and warn sey if things no change quick, oda airlines go follow suit.
AON talk sey to increase ticket price to match fuel cost fit make passengers reduce, while shutdown go affect banks, jobs, and national security.
