The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) don sign Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the National Drug Enforcement Authority (NDEA) of United Arab Emirates (UAE) to make cooperation against drug trafficking between the two countries strong.

Dem sign the agreement on Saturday, September 26, 2026, for side of the 15th United Nations Congress on Crime Prevention and Criminal Justice wey dey happen for Abu Dhabi, UAE.

When e dey talk for the signing ceremony, NDLEA Chairman/Chief Executive Officer, Brig. Gen. Mohamed Buba Marwa (rtd.), talk say the agreement na the result of years of engagement between the two agencies and e go make intelligence-sharing and joint enforcement operations along the Nigeria-UAE corridor strong well well.

Marwa talk say NDLEA don intercept about 354.7kg of illicit drugs, including cocaine, cannabis, tramadol, Rohypnol, ecstasy and khat, wey dem hide inside consignments wey dey go UAE between 2021 and 2026.

He add say dem arrest and prosecute 47 suspects in connection with the seizures. He talk say this development show say the two countries need to cooperate more to scatter trafficking networks wey dey exploit their strong trade and travel links. According to am, NDLEA record more than 91,000 arrests, including 243 suspected drug barons, between January 2021 and July 2026.
