Speaker of di House of Representatives, Tajudeen Abbas, don warn lawmakers make dem no allow 2027 election campaigns distract dem from their legislative duties.

E give di warning on Tuesday as di House resume plenary for di National Assembly, Abuja, after their annual recess, and e urge members to dey attend plenary and committee sittings regularly.

"I call on every Honourable Member to attend plenary and committee sittings faithfully. Legislation and oversight must not be abandoned for di campaign trail," Abbas talk.

E remind lawmakers say their constituents elect dem to serve full term and dem deserve their continued commitment to legislative responsibilities.

Under di revised timetable of di Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), campaigns for presidential and National Assembly elections start on August 19, 2026, while campaigns for governorship and State Houses of Assembly elections start on September 9.
