INEC chairman, Prof. Joash Amupitan, raise dis concern yesterday for Abuja during di second yearly lecture of di Alumni Association of di National Institute for Security Studies (AANISS). Di lecture wey dem tag ‘Credible Elections and National Security in Nigeria’ bring togeda security experts, strategic thinkers, and pipo wey dey involved for election.
Amupitan say di threats be like three things wey dey connected — digital attacks wey dey mix with physical security risks like insurgency, communal clashes, and election violence. He warn say dis things togeda fit make pipo trust di election process less, and dat fit make dem lose faith for government.
“Na our collective duty to close dis gap with serious precision, and dat be why dis lecture dey important. We must understand say credible election make pipo trust government, and dis trust dey key for national security. When citizens believe for di electoral process, dem go accept di result more, and dat go reduce di tension wey fit cause trouble.”
