Heavy rainfall don cause serious damage for Darwat-Jol community wey dey Riyom Local Government Area for Plateau State, wey destroy over 20 houses and scatter many families.

Di downpour wey happen on Saturday afternoon, cause serious flooding wey sweep through di area, and di residents dey count wetin dem lose.

Some farmlands sef dem destroy by di rain.

One resident of Riyom, Mr Damba Dang, wey confirm di incident, talk say di rainfall na one of di heaviest wey dem don see for recent time, and e say di community poor drainage system no fit carry di water.

"Many houses, especially those wey dem build wit mud and thatch, collapse under di weight of di water. We lose food items, clothes, and oda house things. E be terrible sight," e talk.

Eyewitnesses say di houses wey affect include residential buildings and nearby farmlands, wey make di matter worse for di farming community wey already dey face economic hardship.

E talk say some residents don beg Plateau State Government, relevant agencies, and humanitarian organisations make dem quickly provide relief materials.
