Nigerian government don set aside N1.4 billion for 2026 to prosecute Boko Haram and oda terrorism cases under Federal Ministry of Justice.

Dis one big increase compared to N530 million wey dem approve for same thing for 2025.

According to The PUNCH, dis money come from di Appropriation Bill details, because Budget Office of di Federation never release full breakdown of di 2026 budget wey President Bola Tinubu just sign.

Tinubu sign di 2026 Appropriation Bill into law on Friday, wey total budget be N68.32 trillion for di year. Di budget include N5.41 trillion for defence and security, wey show say government still dey focus on tackling insecurity.

For 2026 proposal, di item dey listed as “BOKO HARAM, TERRORISM AND RELATED CASES” with N1.371 billion. For 2025 Appropriation Act, e appear as “MANAGEMENT OF TERRORISM RELATED CASES/ISSUES” with N530 million.

Di terrorism money dey take bigger part of di ministry’s capital spending. Di N1.371 billion for 2026 be about 14.1% of Federal Ministry of Justice headquarters total capital expenditure of N9.725 billion. But di N530 million for 2025 be about 7.9% of headquarters capital budget of N6.750 billion.

Di overall budget for di ministry headquarters don increase as well. For 2025, Federal Ministry of Justice headquarters get total allocation of N19.861 billion – N5.611 billion for personnel, N7.500 billion for overhead, and N6.750 billion for capital expenditure.

For 2026 proposal, headquarters allocation rise to N23.685 billion – N3.461 billion for personnel, N10.500 billion for overhead, and N9.725 billion for capital spending. Dis one be increase of about N3.825 billion, wey be around 19.3% year-on-year.
