For statement wey di state Police Public Relations Officer, SP Alfred Alabo release, di command say di attack happen “for early hours of Sunday, 21st June 2026, around 4:40am.”
E add say, “Di Plateau State police command dey very sad to confirm attack on Kawel Community, Mushere District, Bokkos Local Government Area, for early hours of Sunday, 21st June 2026, around 4:40am, by group of armed hoodlums.”
According to police, “When we get di information, di Commissioner of Police Plateau State Command, CP Bassey Ewah, immediately direct di Divisional Police Officer, Bokkos Division, to mobilise police personnel to di scene.
“Di team, together with operatives of di command’s Violent Crime Response Unit (VCRU) and other sister security agencies, fight di attackers seriously, and dem force dem to run away.”
Police give breakdown of casualties: “Unfortunately, eighteen (18) people confam dead for di scene of di attack, while three (3) others dem rush to hospital for treatment.
“Later, two (2) of di injured victims confam dead by medical doctor, so total number of casualties become twenty (20).
“Di bodies of di victims don release to their families for burial, as di families refuse autopsy.”
Ewah sympathise with di families of di deceased and di peace-loving people of Bokkos LGA over this sad incident.
