Nigerien President, General Abdourahamane Tiani, arrived in Türkiye on Wednesday night to begin an official working visit.
A statement released by the Turkish government indicated that the West African leader is visiting at the invitation of his Turkish counterpart.
"At the invitation of President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, the President of the Republic of Niger, Abdourahamane Tchiani, will pay a working visit to Türkiye on June 4, 2026," stated Burhanettin Duran, the Turkish government's Director of Communications, in a post shared on X.
The statement added, "During the talks, all aspects of the bilateral relations between Türkiye and Niger will be reviewed, and steps to further enhance cooperation will be evaluated."
An important visit
The statement further noted, "The two leaders will also exchange views on regional and global developments."
In a separate statement issued on Wednesday, the Presidency of Niger confirmed that President Tiani had departed for Türkiye "for a working and partnership visit aimed at strengthening cooperation between the two nations."
The statement also listed numerous high-ranking Nigerien officials accompanying Tiani on the visit, noting that all play critical roles in national development.
It highlighted that the caliber of ministers in the delegation demonstrates the Nigerien authorities' commitment to strengthening their cooperation with Türkiye in several sectors deemed priorities for Niger's economic, industrial, and security development.
The high-ranking Nigerien officials in the delegation include: General Salifou Mody Minister of National Defense, Garba Hakimi Minister of Health, Salissou Mahaman, Minister of Infrastructure, Ousmane Abarchi, Minister of Mines.
Others include Bakary Yaou Sangaré Minister of Foreign Affairs, Soumana Boubacar Chief of Staff to the President and Government Spokesperson, Maman Laouali Abdou Rafa Minister of Economy and Finance, Mahaman Elhadj Ousmane Minister of Agriculture, Amadou Haoua Minister of Energy, Abdoulaye Seydou Minister of Trade and Industry and Salou Adama Gazibo Niger's Ambassador to Türkiye.
