US to restore F-35 fighter jet sales to Türkiye: Trump
The lifting of US sanctions will deliver substantial benefits to Türkiye in strategic, economic, and technological terms, analysts say.

"We're going to be taking the sanctions off... We don't want to sanction friends."

US President Donald Trump told Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan that Washington will remove existing sanctions, CAATSA, against Türkiye, expressing a desire to strengthen ties with strategic partners as the two leaders met on the sidelines of the NATO summit in Ankara on 7 July.

Coordinating the move with Secretary of State Marco Rubio and Defence Secretary Pete Hegseth, Trump also said he would "certainly consider" restoring F-35 fighter jet sales to Ankara, praising the Turkish defence industry, and declared the bilateral relationship stronger than ever
