Dangote oil refinery has appointed Turkish financial expert Betul Sarikaya as its new Chief Financial Officer following the successful closing of its IPO aimed at expanding its operations.

''I’m thrilled to share that I’ve taken on the role of CFO at Dangote Petroleum & Petrochemicals. It’s one of the largest refineries in the world, and I’m joining at a defining moment,’’ Sarikaya said in a social media post on 3 November after her appointment.

‘‘The company has just closed Africa’s biggest IPO ever, with investors from around 120 countries, and is now preparing an expansion that will double its capacity to 1.4 million barrels a day,'' she added.

''But what drew me in wasn’t just the scale. It was the mission behind it: building Africa’s industrial future and energy independence from the ground up. I’m deeply honored to be trusted with this, and I’ll give it everything I have,'' Sarikaya explained.

Sarikaya’s expertise covers corporate finance, project financing, treasury, mergers and acquisitions, and risk management, particularly in energy and infrastructure.

As CFO of Dangote Petroleum Refinery and Petrochemicals, Sarikaya joins fellow Turkish finance executive Murat Erden, Group CFO of Dangote Industries, in running the financial affairs of the company.

The $20-billion refinery, based in Lagos, with a capacity of 700,000 barrels per day, started operations in 2024 as Africa’s largest refinery, owned by the continent’s richest person, Nigerian billionaire Aliko Dangote.
