Seven people were killed and 22 others injured in a drone attack carried out by the paramilitary Rapid Support Forces (RSF) on the city of El Obeid in North Kordofan, the Sudan Doctors Network said Saturday.

In a statement, the network said the attack involved drones that struck residential areas in Sudan's North Kordofan, causing casualties among civilians.

The group condemned “the deliberate targeting of densely populated neighborhoods”.

It described the incident as a “grave violation” of international humanitarian law and norms.

The network urged the international community and humanitarian organizations to pressure the group to halt such actions and protect civilians.

It also called on relevant authorities to support health facilities in El Obeid with medical supplies and personnel to cope with the rising number of casualties.

Sudan has been gripped by conflict since April 2023 between the army and the RSF, a war that has killed tens of thousands, displaced around 13 million people, and pushed parts of the country toward famine, in one of the world’s worst humanitarian crises.
