Egypt and Pakistan concluded a joint military drill that focused on counterterrorism operations and confronting “non-conventional threats", according to a statement by the Egyptian army.

The exercise was held over several days at special forces training fields in Pakistan with the participation of Egyptian paratroopers and Pakistani special forces.

The final phase featured joint field exercises focusing on counterterrorism operations and confronting “non-conventional threats,” the statement said on Thursday.

The Egyptian army said the drill comes as part of efforts to enhance military cooperation and boost combat readiness between the two countries.

Combat capabilities

It added that the training included both theoretical and field activities aimed at unifying operational concepts, exchanging expertise, and strengthening the combat capabilities of participating forces.

Senior military officials from both sides attended the main phase of the drill, including Egypt’s paratroopers commander and Pakistan’s special forces commander.

The exercise was launched earlier this month and builds on a previous round held in Egypt in 2024.

The statement adds the exercise falls within the framework of the Egyptian Armed Forces’ broader plan for joint training with allied and friendly countries in support of military cooperation across various fields.
