Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan said that with last month's signing of the Mecca Joint Defence Agreement, Türkiye, Saudi Arabia and Pakistan took a step to send a signal to the Islamic world.
Speaking at a special programme with young people in Türkiye's northern province of Samsun on Monday, Erdogan said there were "positive developments" regarding the agreement.
"Saudi Arabia, Pakistan, and Türkiye have taken a step. With this step, let us send a signal to the Islamic world. There are positive developments," he said.
Erdogan also stressed Türkiye's efforts to help address challenges facing the Islamic world.
"Türkiye says that we should overcome the difficulties facing the Islamic world as soon as possible. To overcome these, Türkiye has put its weight behind the region," he said.
"We cannot take this matter lightly," he added.
